The old professor says: Just look at the car you drive! Its hard to think of, but that car, not too long ago was a pile of iron ore!!! The copper of the wires in the car, the aluminum of the engine, the chrome of the trim, the glass in the windows, etc. were also, not too long ago, just ore deposits waiting to be mined, smeltered, formed, and assembled.
Just look at yourself. There are many essential minerals that you must take in to promote growth and stay alive. One of the most common is table salt! You need it to maintain the salinity of your blood and provide electrolytes for many bodily processes.
The Earth is composed of minerals and mineral making materials. Without them....no Earth...no you! Can any impact be greater? How do minerals impact my everyday life?
Bruce D has said everything that could be said about importance of minerals to mankind.
Minerals have played key role in the evolution of man from ape like creatures. Remember the stone age, copper age, bronze age, iron age and the age of super-conductivity is all about minerals and its use.
thnksHow do minerals impact my everyday life?
A mineral that has on impact on your everyday life is apatite, a calcium phosphate (with hydroxyl, fluorine and/or chlorine). Apatite forms your bones and teeth. I think you would agree that this mineral has a very important impact on your life.
If there were no minerals and you went for a walk, you would have to go for a swim instead because all the ground would be gone. You could float pretty well because you would not have the weight of the calcium in bones , and you would have no teeth You would need to wear a tight shower cap to keep your brains where they belong because you would not have a skull either. You could not squirm far without getting cramps for lack of potassium and you would be very anemic for lack of iron and the absence of sodium in your blood would make the electro/chemical balance too weak for the your body to even function at all and so you would just float around in all that fresh water looking for something to do.
